Book Writing
Eu Poemo (2023 - Poetry)
"I see this book as a museum within a mind that has chosen to expose not only the facts that shaped it as a human being, but also the sensations and emotions present in the moments that inspired each of these essays. Amid pain, love, wonder, doubt, and reflection, we enter the deepest zone of introspection of an artist who is simultaneously the character, the object, and the narrator of her own story — and who dares to break down barriers within ourselves.
Lara Sampaio is an artist with the rare ability to transform experiences, thoughts, and questions into works filled with meaning, beauty, and comfort. With great sensitivity, she guides us through her own journey to help us find ourselves in ours. The path ahead is one of transformation — the kind only a reader can truly experience. Don’t think twice before diving in."
- Mateus Rocha and Victória Peixoto
"It’s often said that opening a book means discovering a new world. And yet, sometimes the experience shows us that, when we come across a literary work—whether in verse or prose—we actually look inward. We are touched in places we already know, in what we’ve forgotten, or in what we wish we had forgotten.
That’s the power of art: to stir what we didn’t want to be stirred, but needed to feel. To be the bitter remedy that heals us, or the beer that joins us in celebration (also bitter—curious, isn’t it?). Art runs through the veins of Brazilians, through the veins of every human being. And this is a book made by artists, for you—who also carries art within yourself, even if you haven’t noticed it yet.
It’s true that living for art is not easy. Producing an independent book with limited resources is a task that requires time and effort, countless conversations, consultations, and what we call “not you, not me”—the middle ground, the diplomacy of choices. Here, no one gives orders. No one takes them either.
This is a book made by friends. A book made by artists. A book about what is human: art. Lara’s talent and sensitivity are clear on the printed pages, but they also came through in every punctuation choice, every illustration, and every conversation about the progress of the work. Even though it’s a small, independent production, it demanded technique, dedication, trial and error, and repair. The depth of the texts and illustrations reveals the life of someone who lives and breathes art 24 hours a day. It was a pleasure to contribute to bringing these texts to life and placing them in the hands of readers. You deserve art.
Eu Poemo is about me, about you, about us. And maybe you found yourself within these pages too. No, living for art is not easy. But living without it? That’s much harder."

"There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you."

Soft Power : Impacts On Mankind (2019 - Short film/Documentary)
The documentary "Softpower: Impacts On Mankind" offers viewers an objective, concise, and humorous explanation of the concept developed by Harvard professor Joseph Nye: soft power.
Through the lens of governmental influence, the film explores how soft power is implicitly embedded in the cultural products of various nations — with a focus on the United States — and how it impacts today’s globalized society.
Written and directed by Lara Sampaio (Jorge e Caio, XADREZ, No Ar), with editing, post-production, and sound design by Mateus Rocha (Jorge e Caio, XADREZ, No Ar), the short film stands out for breaking away from formality and establishing a direct dialogue with the viewer, aiming to engage them through its language and draw them into the narrative.
The research team includes Lara, Mateus and Victória Peixoto (Jorge e Caio, XADREZ, No Ar, BEBA), Daniel Righetti (Jorge e Caio, XADREZ, No Ar, BEBA), and Aline Oliveira (Jorge e Caio, Em Caixa, No Ar, Memória Fotográfica), along with the director and the editor.
